Cholsey kicked-off, and were immediately on the attack, with one shot being confidently handled by the Marston keeper, and another couple hitting the side netting within the first two minutes.
With some dogged defending by Marston, and further good work from their keeper, it was the eighth minute before Joe put Cholsey in the lead.
For the remainder of the first half, the Marston goal was under almost relentless attack, with Cholsey showing some good passing and teamwork. Cholsey scored two more, after a goal-mouth scramble, and a shot from William which he managed to put beyond reach of the keeper. Credit is due to the Marston keeper for the score being only 3-0 at half-time. Whilst Marston managed to move onto the attack on two occasions they were not able to capitalise on them.
Early on in the second half, both Tyler and Freddie were able to break the Marston defence to score two goals within a minute of each other. From then on, however, Marston’s defending became more assured, and that, together with some heroic goal-keeping, denied Cholsey any more goals. Marston were more determined on the attack too, though rarely troubled the Cholsey keeper. Overall, a good home win for Cholsey.
