It was a sleepless night for the good folk of North Oxford and nearby villages on Saturday.
The Oxford Mail was inundated with calls yesterday about the thump, thump noise from a rave held at the weekend.
The revellers at Cassington Closing Party certainly knew how to have a good time.
But people up to five miles away complained about loud music which went on until early on Sunday morning.
The police said it was a well-organised event.
But Oxford City Council and West Oxfordshire District Council, which had licensed the party, received complaints throughout the night.
One resident said that the dull booming noise became too much to bear.
However, the district council told the Oxford Mail the noise was not excessive.
That begs the question, what would be regarded as excessive?
We would urge the council to check up on any similar events planned for the county in the future to ensure that people can enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep.
