THE firm that operates most of West Oxfordshire’s public leisure centres is set to merge with another company.
Nexus Community, which has run the centres for West Oxfordshire District Council since 2001, will merge with Greenwich Leisure Ltd (GLL).
Its contract runs until 2016.
Hilary Biles, council cabinet member for leisure, young people and health, said: “The combined resources and expertise of both companies will give us opportunities to improve our leisure services.”
The company manages centres including Bartholomew Sports Centre, Eynsham, Carterton Leisure Centre, Chipping Norton Leisure Centre and Windrush Leisure Centre, Witney.
The council confirmed that jobs at both charitable organisations are secure, with business continuing as usual.
Mark Sesnan, managing director of GLL, said: “This offers a fantastic opportunity for both GLL and Nexus.”
Rick Durrant, managing director of Nexus, added: “We can further strengthen the positive relationship we’ve had with GLL since our inception.”
