We are the only maintained all girls’ school in Oxfordshire and, as such, offer a unique provision for girls to develop in a stimulating and supportive learning environment.
This provision is complemented by a flourishing co-educational sixth form, run in liaison with St Birinus School, which consistently achieves excellent results at all levels. We are committed to nurturing the development of the whole child in a learning community committed to academic excellence, alongside a rich provision of extra-curricular activities.
We are a 1,000-strong school, with an additional 400 students in the sixth form, situated on a green and spacious site on the edge of Didcot.
The school offers superb facilities with a recently-built sports centre and a range of new building and specialist teaching spaces.
This summer’s GCSE results were our best ever with 74 per cent of all of our Year 11 students achieving five or more A*-C grades, and exceptional achievement represented by the 24 per cent of students achieving five or more A*/A grades.
Our A-Level results were outstanding, with 54 per cent of entries graded A*-B, securing our position once more as one of the highest-attaining sixth forms in the county. As a specialist language college, and fourth-time winner of the coveted International Schools Award, we pride ourselves on the international dimension of our work.
As well as offering a wide range of languages, including Mandarin Chinese, students have the opportunity to travel abroad, learn about other cultures, welcome visitors from overseas and experience at first-hand the importance of languages in the world of work.
The heart of our school is grounded in the strength of relationships between staff, students and parents. We work in partnership with our students, who actively contribute to the running and decision-making of the school within our very strong house system. Our school community is inclusive and celebrates cultural diversity and difference throughout the curriculum and in our day-to-day practices.
We warmly invite you to join us on September 29, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm to explore the school for yourselves. All are welcome!
You will be guided around the site by our student guides who are the very best and most important advocates for our school.
Our headteacher, Mrs Rachael Warwick, will be delivering a presentation for families throughout the evening describing her vision for the school’s continued future success.
There will be the opportunity to see girls involved in learning activities, to talk to staff across the school, and to meet senior staff, governors and our wonderful team of head girl and deputy head girls.
We also offer two open mornings for prospective parents on Monday, October 4, and Thursday, October 7, between 9.30-11am. This is an opportunity to see the school in action, as senior staff lead tours around the site during a normal working day. You will be able to see first-hand the stimulating learning and excellent behaviour which characterise our school community.
If you would like to attend either morning, telephone us on 01235 812092 to confirm your visit in advance. We are extremely proud of our school community at Didcot Girls’ School — come and find out why!
