As the only co-ed independent day school in Abingdon, OLA can offer an education to both boys and girls from nursery right through to sixth form — all together on the same campus.

Our pupils achieve excellent academic results — “Pupils make exceptional progress in their academic studies in relation to their ability profile” (ISI Inspection Report 2010) — but also leave us as well-rounded and independent individuals with a sound moral and spiritual basis for the next stage of their lives.

“Pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development is excellent.” (ISI).

From early years — “The leadership and management of the setting are outstanding. Those in charge have a strong commitment to equality and diversity, and are highly focused on helping all children make very good progress in their learning and development (ISI)” — to sixth form, students are able to find an expression for creative talents through many and varied extra-curricular activities.

Education is not a process solely confined to the classroom.

“Pupils achieve excellent results in a range of extra-curricular activities, especially in sport.” (ISI) There is a strong commitment to local community schemes and an impressive record in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and Young Enterprise.

International links have been firmly established through partnership with Maryhill High School in Uganda and OLA holds the DCSF International School Award.

At OLA we can offer places in the sixth form, subject to GCSE results, to take them on to A-Level.

The sixth form centre —with study areas, common room, kitchen and dining area — offers excellent facilities for work, careers advice, socialising and hosting events. Sixth form scholarships and bursaries are available.

You are very welcome to attend the sixth form open evening on Thursday, October 7, at 7.30pm to see for yourself what is on offer.

As a Catholic school that welcomes all faiths and beliefs our ethos is based on the principles of love, forgiveness and community and the pastoral system is a major strength of the school. “In providing the context for this development, the school is fulfilling its aim to educate pupils in a manner sympathetic to the ethos of the Catholic Church. Pupils have a clear understanding of goodness and truth.” (ISI) If you feel your son or daughter would also enjoy the experience of OLA please come along to our open morning on Saturday, October 16, 10am-1pm.

This is an ideal opportunity to look freely round the nursery, junior and senior schools and a chance to talk to staff about your hopes for your child’s education.
