Opportunity is our watchword at Headington, and for nearly 100 years, we have been committed to providing the best opportunities for young girls.
The Headington Access Programme (HAP) is an exciting scheme designed to provide funding for gifted girls — whatever their background or financial situation. Already, 12 girls are enrolled at Headington on 100 per cent bursaries, with the school covering all of their fees — 36 more receive some level of assistance.
Girls leave Headington each year with some excellent examination results to their credit.
Still more importantly, they leave us as independent thinkers, rich in experiences and friendships, ready to make their mark on the world.
Heading off to universities and colleges in the UK and beyond, or setting out on an adventurous gap year abroad, Headington leavers will embark upon futures as diverse and varied as they are themselves.
Headington pupils benefit from a wealth of opportunities and experiences, both within and beyond the core curriculum, designed to broaden their outlook. This prepares them not only for school exams, but for the challenges of university and adult life.
We help every girl discover her full potential, and the education that we offer is built around the twin values of breadth and balance.
The Headington Access Programme is about offering Headington places to a wider range of girls than ever before, but it is also about much more than this.
Under HAP, Headington School opens its facilities to the benefit of the wider community.
We already share our swimming pool for the Oxford Swans, who offer swimming lessons for disabled and older swimmers; we open up our theatre to a range of community groups and the main school building is used by local churches at the weekends.
Headington girls are also active within the local community, visiting the elderly, working in local primary schools or volunteering in charity shops.
HAP will draw together all of these activities and build upon them, consolidating the school’s role within the local community and further afield.
If you would like to find out more, join us for our next planned open event on October 7.
Open events at Headington provide a great opportunity for prospective pupils and their parents to experience the school for themselves. Families tour the school, meet staff and girls, attend talks and Q&A sessions with the headmistress, visit boarding houses and more.
Headington open events always take place during the week, allowing visitors to see lessons in action and soak up the school’s vibrant atmosphere.
