THESE two songstresses have proved they’ve definitely got talent after winning their way through knockout heats in a national contest.
Kizzy Horgan and Laura Netting, both 14, have won their way through to the regional finals of the Open Mic UK 2010 competition, which aims to seek out the country’s best singers, singer/ songwriters, rappers and vocalists.
The girls both hope to make careers as singers and are eagerly eyeing the top prize – a recording contract and a share of £50,000.
Kizzy, from St Peter’s Close, Cassington, wowed judges with her version of Luther Vandross’ Dance With My Father. The Bartholomew School pupil said: “It felt really good because I have been to so many auditions for so many things.”
She is now practicing for the next stage on October 31.
Duffy’s song Warwick Avenue proved a winner for Grove teenager Laura at her auditions in Cheltenham. The King Alfred’s School pupil, who practises her singing seven hours a week, will now go on to compete in Aldershot on October 17.
She said: “It feels good to have got this far.” Pictures: Marc West and Tony Moore
