Summertown United kicked off the season with a 3-1 victory over Oxford Blackbirds. Summertown got into their passing rhythm straight away but it was Blackbirds's more direct style that was rewarded with the game's first score as Tyirie Allen, the team's star player, grabbed a striker's goal. Summertown continued to pass the ball and first equalized with a fine strike by Palden Ball and then took a lead into the break with a goal from Octavi Casals Farre. In the second half, Blackbirds continued to press with robust football and were denied an equalizer by the crossbar. Summertown's Sean Fairns, whose runs down the left continued to terrorise the Blackbirds defence, confirmed all three points when he scored the North Oxford team's third goal. Summertown scorers: Palden Ball; Octavi Casals Farre; Sean Fairns Oxford Blackbirds Tyirie Allen
