Some clinical finishing from a well organised Chalgrove side earned them maximum points winning 5-2 against AFC Brightwell today.
After a bright start newly promoted AFCB went 1-0 behind from a long range effort inside 10 minutes. A cheeky lob from Alex Halsey brought the game back to level terms after 20 minutes but despite having the better of the exchanges in the first period AFCB could not make the pressure count.
After the restart Chalgrove dominated territory and possession and opened up a 2 goal lead with two clinical finishes at the start of the second period. Danny Beaumont came off the bench and battled his way past some strong Chalgrove defending to score for the second week running with 10 minutes left.
Gutsy performances from Dominic Booth, Aaron Jubber and Cameron Wetherall at the back where not enough to keep the Chalgrove front line at bay and they closed out the game with two more goals in quick succession before the final whistle.
Chalgrove where composed and well organised across the park and clearly deserved all 3 points. But credit to the AFCB players and spectators who left smiling and enthusiastic for the next challenge if a little sore at losing so heavily.
