Police are appealing for witnesses following a robbery in Banbury today.
At about 10.30am, a cash-in-transit driver was collecting cash from the Co-op in Rotary Way, when he was confronted by a man, aged in his twenties, who demanded that he hand over the cash box.
The man then got into a grey car, which was being driven by another man.
Police said the main offender was about 6ft 2in tall, of mixed race, medium build and was wearing a black hooded top and dark jeans.
Det Sgt Wendy Percival said: “The men got away empty-handed as the offender threw the cash box out of the car once the ink was activated inside.
“At no stage was any weapon seen and nobody was hurt during the incident. I appeal to anyone who was in this area of Banbury this morning and saw two men driving a grey car, acting suspiciously, to contact police immediately.”
Anyone with information that could assist police enquiries is urged to contact Det Sgt Percival via Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police and don’t want to leave your name contact the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
