Police are appealing for witnesses to a sexual assault after a man in his twenties touched a 14-year-old girl on the bottom as she was walking home from school.

The incident happened at about 3.45pm on Wednesday in North Hinksey Lane, Oxford.

The man approached the schoolgirl and told her she had beautiful eyes before grabbing her on the bottom. He then said sorry and walked off in the direction of the centre of Botley.

He is described as white, in his mid-twenties, with dark brown hair and of slim, athletic build. He has a distinctive scar below his Adam’s apple.

PC Robert Maris said “it is unacceptable that a young woman should be touched in this way, and we hope someone will have information that will lead us to catch this man as soon as possible”.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC Robert Maris via the Thames Valley Police 24-hour enquiry line on 0845 8 505 505, or alternatively contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111
