"Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, No, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes" sang the joyful chorus of Quarry Rovers fans. Garsington were unlucky and deserved to score more. However this was Quarry's day, as they drew a new and awesome weapon shining from its scabbard - 'passing'.
This 'passing' appears to mainly consist of one player - the 'passer' - kicking it to another player - the 'passee' - who is cunningly positioned in a better position than the passer. Coach Clay Sinclair said after the match "The players have clearly been working on this 'passing' in secret, and to be honest we're not happy. Its unnatural and I blame the Spanish for turning our kid's heads. Ever since June it's been 'paella' this and 'flamenco' that. And now this, we won't have it.
Quarry had two hatrick heroes in Jacob and Milton. Other scorers were Isaac, Toby and Alex. Alex had perhaps his best game yet for Quarry, serving up a feast of balls as tempting as low hanging cherries. Only yellow and football sized. Jo dee, Joseph, Toby and Isaac provided the platform to allow this attacking. When the defence was breached it was by a superb run and shot from Garsington. Special mention should go to the Garsington goalie, who pulled off a number of great saves.
In the second game it was Garsington who won convincingly, 4-2. Quarry keeper Oliver made some vital stops, after an impressive first half display in midfield. Edward and Louis impressed on the wings whilst Cain and Azlan were solid thorughout. Adam used both strength, speed and customary coolness to slot the two Quarry goals.
