THE Almond family were well represented at Nuneham Courtenay village school.

The photograph above, dating from about 1930, includes no fewer than five Almond children.

It was sent in by Gladys Almond, now Gladys Grimshaw, of Botley, Oxford. Her granddaughter, Lorraine Coney, writes: “She was one of eight Almonds, including the five in this picture.

“I emailed her sister, Laura, and between them, they have come up with all the names.

“There are only three of the Almonds still alive today – my nan, 89, and Lena, in her early nineties, are still living in Oxford, and ‘baby’ Laura, in her early eighties, is in the United States. Incidentally, one of the pupils in the picture, Doreen Arnatt, known as ‘Dolly’, also lives in the United States and Laura is still in contact with her school friend after all these years.

“I do hope you will be able to print this in Memory Lane, as I am sure it will result in some very happy memories – especially for the little Almonds!”
