Abingdon Town Council must be congratulated for organising its Heritage Weekend and Fun in the Park – its now traditional ‘winding down from the summer’ festival.
It was pleasing to see Abingdon residents and visitors alike enjoying themselves and what the town has to offer.
What was not so pleasing was to notice that only yards from all the fun and games – in Abingdon Pool Meadow – the municipal pool was closed, the refreshment kiosk was closed, the tennis courts were closed and the pitch and putt was closed.
These facilities are managed by the district council – as is the busy adjacent children’s play area. A commercial opportunity seems to have been wasted.
The lights may be on in Abbey House but is there anybody there?
