Police are appealing for information after two burglaries in Charlbury over the weekend where houses were left unlocked.

On Saturday, September 11, burglars entered a property in Market Street some time between midnight and 4am and stole a laptop and wallet containing cash from the downstairs study while the home owners were asleep upstairs.

Burglars also gained access to a property in Browns Lane some time between 9pm on Friday and 10am on Saturday and stole a wallet and cigarettes.

Det Sgt Dick White said: “I would like to remind residents once again about the importance of ensuring that all windows and doors are locked and secure in the evening when you go to bed.

“Never leave your door unlocked at night. It makes it easier for burglars to help themselves to your belongings.

“Anyone who was in the area of either of these two break-ins who saw or heard anything suspicious should come forward and speak to police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information should contact Det Sgt White via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
