ONLY one headstone has been ruled unsafe following annual safety checks at city graveyards.
Oxford City Council inspected nearly 1,500 memorials earlier this month.
One headstone, in St Mary’s churchyard in Iffley, had to be laid down for safety reasons.
In 2005, more than 2,000 gravestones were laid flat in the city’s four council-owned cemeteries and 11 churchyards.
