A 20-YEAR-OLD woman who set fire to herself and her flat for the second time in a year has been jailed.
Stephanie Ramsey sprayed deodorant on her nightdress and duvet at her flat in Cromwell Court, Banbury, on June 6 in a suicide attempt.
She was pulled unconscious from the blaze by neighbours Gary Waddup and Ross Harvey, who forced their way past a wheelie bin wedged against the front door.
In 2009 she attempted to kill herself by the same method and also had to be rescued by Mr Waddup.
On that occasion she was given a supervision order, which she was still serving at the time of her second suicide bid.
At Oxford Crown Court yesterday she admitted a charge of arson, reckless as to whether life was endangered, and was jailed for three years.
Adrian Amer, defending, said: “The first time was bad enough, but on the day in question she had hit rock bottom.
“What she did was an immense cry for help.”
He said Ramsey’s time in custody awaiting sentence had given her “real positive hope” for the future.
