On Sunday, 12 September, Wantage is celebrating National Heritage Week with lots of activities in the Market Place including Punch and Judy, apple bobbing, traditional swing boats, stocks, coconut shy and stalls promoting local heritage. Teddy Bears’ picnic and fancy dress competition for young children from 11.30 am in Dr Squires’ garden in Priory Road. Official opening by town mayor at 1pm.
Other attractions include: display of sword fighting by the Fellowship of the Ox, bands of wandering minstrels, live music, Betjeman tours, family Heritage trail and the Ale Trail in participating pubs. Traditional crafts, exhibitions and much more in the museum. Call 01235 764444 for more details.
