Joy of joys, someone has organised the most fantastic event in Oxford.
I am talking about the Oxford Foodie’s Festival that took place in South Park over the weekend. We were greeted at the gate, there were many tents and stalls, the atmosphere was wonderful, and even though there was lots of alcohol, all we saw were two mature security people.
Everyone seemed to be having a good time. It was such a stark difference to this year’s Cowley Road Carnival at which the whole park was sealed off, and there were many security guards – who searched everyone before they went in. At the carnival people were banned from taking alcohol in, and anyone with a dog was turned away.
I heard so many people complaining at the carnival – which had no ‘carnival’ feeling.
I do hope that organisers of that event were at the weekend’s Foodie Festival; they really could have learned a thing or two about how to organise a really successful, chilled-out event and manage to keep all users of the park happy by allowing them to share the space.
Well done to all of the event’s organisers.
Please bring it back next year.
