What is the value to Oxfordshire of the Oxford and District Sports and Recreation Association for the Disabled (Oxsrad)? Far in excess of the £48,000 for which it could be wound up, we would argue.
The charity, which provides sporting facilities for a wide range of people with disabilities, has been providing a fantastic service for more than two decades.
It is highly regarded locally and well supported by many. We are proud to say that the charitable fund run by our parent company, The Gannett Foundation, has financed some of Oxsrad’s sporting equipment.
Oxsrad should not be allowed to fold because of a debt over a photocopier bill. For sure, the charity may have made mistakes and there is no dispute that the debt is owed.
However, there has to be a way for the two businesses involved, NCS Ltd and BNP Paribas, to settle their claim in a way that allows the invaluable service provided by Oxsrad to continue, and we urge them to do so.
