EVERYONE knows Tesco’s own unique slogan ‘every little helps’ due to the fact they were one of the cheapest supermarkets.
But, alas, in the last couple of years, Tesco prices have been increasing week by week.
They tell us they check thousands of prices in other leading stores, but they don’t check Sainsbury’s prices very well as, on Sunday, my wife and I went to Tesco in Cowley Road and found their price for a jar of Bovril was £3.31.
We wouldn’t buy it at that price.
We went to Sainsbury’s in the Westgate Centre and found that their price for the same size jar was £2.79, a saving of 52p. That was only one item.
No wonder Tesco can afford to buy and convert other properties.
I think they should change their slogan to ‘every little helps to increase prices’.
It really does pay to shop around.
Even at Cowley Centre you can find savings and the new B&M stores are selling sugar at 59p for a 2lb bag. Tesco’s price is £1-plus a bag. What a rip-off!
