Actress Susan Hampshire is selling her 17th-century converted Oxfordshire barn, set in grounds of one-and-half acres.

Warren Barn, in the village of Little Haseley, has been put on the market for £1.15m with the TV and film star and husband, Sir Eddie Kulukundis, looking to move nearer family.

Ms Hampshire, 72, is well-known for her television, film and stage roles including the long-running television drama series The Forsyte Saga in the 1960s and 70s and the 1969 film comedy Monte Carlo or Bust, in which she starred opposite Tony Curtis.

One of her most recent roles was as Molly MacDonald in the BBC drama Monarch of the Glen in which she appeared from 1999 until 2005 when the series ended.

Her many theatre parts include playing Mrs Bennet in a stage version of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice performed at the Oxford Playhouse earlier this year.

Ms Hampshire and Sir Eddie, who she married in 1981, have extensively refurbished the property over the past seven years.

The alterations include making it more open plan and creating a bedroom with ensuite bathroom on the ground floor.

Sir Eddie, an OBE, is a former theatre producer and was chairman of the Ambassador group, which owns several London and provincial theatres including the Duke of York in the West End.

The couple, who also own property in London, are thought to be putting Warren Barn on the market because they want a place nearer Ms Hampshire’s son’s home in Dorset.

The open-plan design of Warren Barn includes an entrance hall with vaulted ceiling, sitting room, kitchen/breakfast room and study.

On the first floor of the house are another two double bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms. Other notable features of the property include an electric Aga, underfloor heating, terracotta tiled floor, oak doors, an oak staircase and exposed beams.

Outside, a gravel driveway leads to automated gates that open on to a large gravel area with a turning circle and parking for several cars.
