Sir – You have reported (Weekend, August 12) that choirmaster Stephen Darlington says: “Twenty-five years ago, Christ Church Cathedral’s relationships with the outside world was difficult — to put it politely, and from experience. It was very different from the welcoming attitude that prevails today.”
I was a parent of a Christ Church choirboy in those days. I and my son were affected by those difficulties that Dr Darlington mentions.
My point is that Christ Church’s difficulties affected the boys and their parents as much as they affected the choirmaster.
