The UK is set to be deluged with yet more heavy rain today as forecasters warned that the spell of miserable weather was set to continue.
Most of August has been a washout, with the sight of holidaymakers wrapped up in waterproofs proving far more common than revellers eating ice cream cones on the beach.
And forecasters predict there is no respite in sight, with rain and wind expected well into next week.
Up to two inches of heavy rain could fall in some southern counties today as yet another wet weather front moves in from the South West.
Billy Payne, a forecaster for MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said: "Unfortunately, there is no break in the weather.
"There will be outbreaks of rain tomorrow spreading from the South West and covering much of England and Wales.
"The rain will be heavy and persistent with the southern counties most at risk. Some places could see as much as one or two inches of rain falling."
Cornwall, where new father and Prime Minister David Cameron is holidaying, and its neighbouring county Devon are expected to bear the brunt of the wet weather.
The best conditions will be in Scotland, where the occasional sunny spell will break through the rainclouds.
Temperatures are slightly below average for this time of year, with highs of 19C expected in London and 17C in Glasgow.
The Bank Holiday weekend looks set to be wet, but a period of high pressure is due to build, with the chance of slightly drier conditions expected by the middle of next week.
