A Bangladeshi woman has brought the tastes of her home country to Oxford by growing tropical vegetables in her back garden.
Mohammed Mannan says it’s great to enjoy the beans, pumpkins and coriander that his wife Begum has managed to grow in their East Oxford garden after years of trying.
He said: “The vegetables are better than anything else because we can’t get them fresh normally.”
The homegrown produce includes three kinds of beans and three types of pumpkin. Mr Mannan said his wife had been trying to grow the vegetables for almost 10 years.
Last year they had some success, but this year the combination of experience, weather and soil produced perfect conditions.
