WE are happy to print today details of the efforts being made to help flood victims in Pakistan, funded by generous people in Oxfordshire.
Yesterday it was announced Britons had donated more than £29m and there was criticism other countries had not given as much.
There has been reluctance in certain quarters, not because people did not recognise the magnitude of the disaster but because they wondered how much good their money would do on the ground.
As we show today, any small amount of money will help the millions affected by the floods.
This is on a scale of major disasters such as the 2004 tsunami and this year’s Haiti earthquake.
We are lucky there are people such as Oxford-based businessman Shaquat Quershi and the Emergency Response Team — Search and Rescue who are prepared to go out there and do what they can to help survivors rebuild their lives.
Just a few pounds from everyone in this country would be a good way to support the efforts of Mr Quershi et al.
