A man is being treated in hospital this morning after being hit by a lorry at a south Oxford roundabout.
Police were called at 6.43am after the pedestrian and a lorry collided at the Kennington roundabout.
Police spokesman Rebecca Webber said the 46-year-old man was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital suffering serious injuries.
Road closures are now in place to allow traffic officers to complete their accident investigation and for the vehicle to be recovered.
The closures, which have caused lengthy traffic delays for drivers heading north and south on the A34, are expected to be lifted within the next two hours.
The Southern bypass remains closed in both directions with southbound traffic tailing back to the Peartree interchange.
Anyone who witnessed the collision should contact Thames Valley Police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
