Police officers discharged a Taser after they were called to a public order incident in an Oxford pub yesterday evening.
Thames Valley Police was called to the Holly Bushl in Bridge Streetl shortly after 10pm after reports that a man had gone into the pub, entered the kitchen area and armed himself with two knives.
The 25-year-old man is then alleged to have made threats towards himself and a member of staff.
A police spokesman said: "On arrival at the incident, the man initially engaged with the officers, though they were later forced to discharge the Taser device when he approached them with the knives, so as to ensure both their safety and that of the members of staff present.
"During the incident the man sustained injuries to his head, that required treatment at the John Radcliffe Hospital. He is now in police custody."
