Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary in Carterton in which a gun and car were stolen.
Burglars broke into the property in Oakfield Road some time between 11pm on Tuesday and 4.35am on Wednesday.
Once inside they stole the .22 calibre Anschutz target rifle, a mobile phone, laptop and the keys to a black BMW M5 car.
The thieves stole the car and left the scene in the stolen vehicle.
Det Sgt Dick White said: “We believe that the property has been deliberately targeted because of the car and the burglars broke into the property to locate the keys to the vehicle.
“I would urge anyone with information about this incident to come forward and speak to police immediately.
“I would also warn people to be vigilant to this type of crime. If you see anyone acting suspiciously in your neighbourhood, call us and let us know what you’ve seen.
“People should also ensure that valuables and car keys are kept out of sight and not left lying around. Don’t make it easy for thieves to steal your valuables.”
Anyone with information about this incident should contact Det Sgt Dick White via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
