A GRUELLING combination of studying and international showjumping failed to unsaddle Clark Glasgow’s A-Level results as he landed five A*s.
The Magdalen College School pupil, left, gained the highest possible grade in maths, further maths, biology, chemistry and English Literature.
Having collected his results from the school at Cowley Place, Oxford, the 18-year-old from Charlbury said: “I was in shock, it’s unbelievable.
“I was predicted five A*s, but I thought that was blown up for the universities. I didn’t really believe that I would be able to consistently achieve those marks.”
He added: “With the showjumping I spent a lot of time away from school but it wasn’t as difficult a workload as it could have been. The school was really helpful.”
Clark, who grew up in the US state of Texas, said: “I’m taking a gap year to do showjumping. I’ll be based with an Olympic rider in Northampton for a year and then I’m off to Cambridge to study natural sciences. My goal right now is to do medicine and go into research or oncology.”
He added: “The school has been fundamental in my being able to achieve like this.”
