A GANG of three assaulted and robbed a man walking through Christ Church Meadow in an attack police have branded a “nasty incident”.
As the victim made his way along a footpath he was cornered by the trio who demanded money.
Before he had a chance to react he was attacked, suffering injuries to his face and head. They took his mobile phone, camera and cash before running away.
The incident was witnessed but police are now hoping someone may recognise the assailants who struck on Sunday August 8 at 6.40pm. The suspects are white and all in their mid-twenties.
The ringleader was described as of thin build, 6ft 1in tall with light blond hair. He was wearing a thick, dark-coloured jumper.
The second offender was between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 10ins talls, tanned, of slim to medium build and short cropped dark hair.
He was wearing a dark blue T-shirt and possibly had a diamond-style earring in his left ear. He was described as unshaven with very dirty hands and nails.
The third man was about 5ft 7ins tall and of slim build. He was wearing a T-shirt underneath a body warmer.
Pc Dave Rogers said: “This is a nasty incident that has left the victim badly shaken and was witnessed by passers-by who were also distressed by what they saw.”
