THERE are a lot of happy teenagers out there today who can be satisfied their hard work has paid off.

They all deserve a pat on the back, but Zulfi Khan and Yanos Soubieski are the epitome of all those students who have put their all in at school this year.

Zulfi wants to read maths at Imperial College in London but learned during his application he would need to have a qualification in further maths — and it was not taught at Cheney School.

Obviously he’s a bright and motivated lad, but even so, he still set out to teach himself on top of the rest of his studies.

Not only did he get a pass, but he scored an A*.

We also have the happy tale of Yanos, who only found out he was dyslexic in December.

It meant he was given extra time to do his exams and he got three Bs and a C. He admits he would not have passed the exams without the extra time allowed because of his condition.

Of course, there will be those who did not get the grades they were hoping for.

To them we say it is not a life-defining moment and you can still achieve almost anything you set your heart on, despite this setback.

You can see, through the endeavours of Zulfi and Yanos, just how true that is.
