PLEASE can someone explain why the city council seems hell bent on throwing tens of thousands of pounds, if not millions, at the troublespots of Oxford but will not accept the arguments of the people who pay their wages that Temple Cowley Pools should stay open.
I, for one, would not go to Blackbird Leys to go swimming with my grandchildren, preferring instead to go to the Oasis in Swindon, as its facilities are superb, spotless and the staff exemplary.
It seems that the city and county councils go through the motions of listening to the public and, despite the outcome of consultations, do exactly what they want, cocking a snook at the public.
You only have to look at the Headington underpass debacle, as one example, to emphasise this.
