EXTRA patrols to curb problem parking in Wantage will be made by police over the next two months.
Residents have been complaining about motorists misusing disabled bays, parking on double yellow lines and ignoring time limits.
Officers will be stepping up enforcement and handing out fines.
Pcso Sue Harris said: “These parking restrictions are there to stop obstruction of the roads at busy times and for the safety of all road users.
“Overstaying in the 30-minute bays stops people parking there to load and unload and may have a detrimental effect on businesses, as shoppers are unable to park nearby.”
The fine for parking illegally is a £30 fixed penalty notice, and a £60 fine and three points on your licence for parking on a pedestrian crossing.
Pc Sarah Palmer said: “We hope that this warning will encourage people to find alternative legal parking in the various car parks around the town.”
