POOCHES from near and far turned out to help raise vital funds for a West Oxfordshire animal rescue centre at the weekend.
Pets competed in a dog show while their owners enjoyed a fun day on Sunday at the Burford branch of Blue Cross, in Shilton Road.
Kris Kowalski and his daughter Kody, four, enjoyed looking around the show with their dog Wilson, a harlequin Great Dane.
Mr Kowalski, 30, of Alvescot, said: “Kody liked watching the dogs, she thought the more dogs the better.
“There were plenty of stalls and the falconry was good. The Blue Cross is a really good cause, it’s very worthwhile.”
Kathy Ruane, of Eynsham, visited the show with her daughter Tiya, eight. Their dogs Wishbone, a Yorkshire Terrier, and shitzu Lily both won prizes in the show.
Mrs Ruane, 43, said: “It was lovely, a really good day out. There were lots of different stalls and lots to do — Tiya had a really good day.”
