PEOPLE are being asked to come up with ideas for ways to cut the amount of rubbish Oxfordshire produces.
The Oxfordshire Waste Partnership (OWP) has launched a consultation at oxfordshirewaste.gov.uk to find ways of cutting waste over the next 10 years.
OWP chairman and county cabinet member Ian Hudspeth said: “We need to reduce the amount of rubbish that needs to be collected, transported and processed – not only for the obvious environmental benefits but to reduce the burden on council tax payers for dealing with that waste.
“I would encourage anyone who has an interest in this to take part in our consultation and tell us what they think.”
In 2009, more than 48 per cent of the county’s waste was recycled or composted, and the partnership saved more than £380,000 through various initiatives. The consultation, which does not cover collection or recycling, is open until September 24.
