CAMPAIGNERS are telling people they have just days to sign a petition over the future of Bicester Community Hospital.

So far 9,000 people have signed the petition and organisers want to break the 10,000 barrier.

Les Sibley, right, chairman of Save Our Community Hospital, plans to hand the petition in later this month to project manager Tony Barrage.

He is hoping it will influence the hospital project team to opt to build the new community hospital on land at the Kingsmere development, off Middleton Stoney and Oxford roads.

A decision will be made by the end of this month where the new hospital will be built.

Two other potential sites are in the running – a former council depot off London Road, and the hospital’s current site in Kings End.

Mr Sibley, also a town and district councillor, said: “This is the final opportunity to influence the decision over the location of where the hospital will be built.”

The final hurdle will be in May next year when the project team will recommend a design and contractor for approval, with work starting in October 2011.
