A company developing the technology for a new generation of rechargeable batteries for mobile phones, laptops and other gadgets has moved to Milton Park near Abingdon, with more than 30 staff.
Nexeon, a spin-out from Imperial College, London, has moved its research scientists, cell fabrication, and pilot plant to refitted premises.
It hopes to accelerate its development of next-generation lithium ion batteries with longer lifetimes and more power.
Samples from the pilot plant will be sent to global corporations interested in evaluating and adopting the new technology.
More efficient dry rooms and heat recovery systems reduce energy costs and carbon footprint.
Engineering and operations director Ian McDonald said: “We’re delighted with our new home.
“It represents an important milestone in our development which began at Imperial College London. We now have room for further expansion.”
Chief executive Scott Brown said: “We continue to make strong technical progress against our technical milestones.
“We expect to make even faster progress now we have taken delivery of our second pilot plant and have completed our move to our new facilities.”
