Police are appealing for information after a man was assaulted after getting off a bus in Headington.
The attack on the 50-year-old man happened after he got off the Number 8 Oxford Bus Company bus in London Road, near to the Green Road Roundabout.
Police said the man had been subjected to abuse on the bus by an unknown man, who followed the victim off the bus with several other people.
The victim was then assaulted further up from the bus stop near to the roundabout, sustaining injuries to his head and face.
The assault happened on Wednesday, August 4, at about 11.20pm, but details were only released today.
PC Chris Cassidy said: “I was alerted to the assault by a member of public who had been on the bus with the victim and was concerned by what was happening.
“I am keen to trace this man, who flagged down the patrol car in Bayswater Road, Barton, and directed us to where the incident took place.
“Sadly by the time we arrived, the attackers had left the scene. Did you see a group of men at the Green Road Roundabout end of London Road at the time of the assault?
“I would like to hear from anyone who has any information about this incident or the people who carried out this assault.”
Anyone with information should contact PC Cassidy via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police Enquiry Line on 0845 8 505 505. Alternatively, you can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
