I was disgusted to read your front-page article on graffiti and the £100,000 cost to the taxpayer (Oxford Mail, August 2).
This turned to outrage at the comment made by councillor Susanna Pressel that the law-abiding taxpayer should foot the majority of the bill for the clean-up of the taggers’ antisocial behaviour, the culprit being expected to “pay a fine towards the cost of the clean-off”.
No wonder law and order is a joke when a member of the previous government’s party suggests such a pathetic punishment.
The culprit should be apprehended and made to do community work until the entire bill has been repaid, followed by the sacking of such a weak, out-of-touch councillor.
