IT may not seem to be a natural fit, but Wantage should be praised for trying to honour the Scots Guards.
The link is a significant one in that the first Lord Wantage, who did much for the town, won a Victoria Cross fighting for the regiment in 1854.
Some might see it as tenuous, but Wantage mayor Jim Sibbald believes the Scots Guards were a major influence on Lord Wantage which then translated itself into how he helped the town move forward.
