Sir – How right Suzanne McIvor is to condemn the turbines as a blot on the landscape in her letter (July 22).
They are also putting on hold two important projects in the community woodland, the site proposed for the turbines, namely new allotments and an oak and bluebell woodland.
The community woodland, with the support of Blackwells Publishing, the Friends of Cutteslowe Park and the Forest of Oxford, is in its fourth year and has attracted £20,000 funding.
It is, therefore, extremely frustrating that, without any consultation, the ongoing programme of development is being frustrated by John Tanner’s half-baked green initiatives.
This year, 750 ash trees have been planted, which will be coppiced for firewood, providing a sustainable source of energy for the benefit of the whole community.
John Thompson, Secretary, Forest of Oxford
