THE memory of Jake Spicer shone brightly again as dozens of players enjoyed a football tournament set up in tribute to the teenager.
Seven teams took part in a five-a-side tournament at Peers Leisure Centre, in Littlemore, Oxford, on Saturday to raise money for the charity which took Jake on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the US shortly before he died aged 15 in July last year, after a five-and-a-half year battle with bone cancer.
The tournament to raise money for the Thomas Ball Cancer Fund was arranged by his brother, Aaron, 21.
Mr Spicer, of Shepherd’s Hill, Greater Leys, said: “It was a really good day for everyone.
“It’s a really important charity for our family because it gave my brother a holiday and it gives many other young sick children a break away.”
He said that the event raised more than £200.
