AN American has swum through Oxford on the first leg of an 11-month triathlon around the world.
Charlie Wittmack, 33, is swimming the River Thames and the English Channel, cycling from France to India, then running to Nepal and climbing Mount Everest.
Last night, he was staying in Oxford after swimming from Godstow Lock to Sandford Lock.
Mr Wittmack hopes his 12,000-mile, 13-country journey will raise awareness of “global health and education”.
His manager, Brian Triplett, above, is following Mr Wittmack in a kayak.
