CONVICTED robber Wayne Townsend has been sent back to jail after admitting handling stolen goods.
The 27-year-old, of Sturgess Close, Cowley, has 13 previous convictions for 18 offences and was jailed for three-and-a-half years in June 2008 for robbing the Local off-licence in London Road, Headington, Oxford.
Having been released on licence he was found on February 28 with a laptop belonging to Stanley Vickery, which had been taken in a street robbery in Cowley Road, East Oxford, the previous day.
Townsend’s arrest triggered an immediate recall to prison under the terms of his licence and he is not set to be released until September 2011.
However, Judge Anthony King criticised the fact that the law meant any sentence imposed for this latest crime would not prolong the father-of-four’s total time in jail as it could not run consecutively.
