WE KNOW the names of seven of the eight girls from Old Marston County Secondary School in Oxford, who packed their bags for a week-long trip to Germany in 1961 (Memory Lane, June 21).
Michael Clarke, of Lewell Avenue, Old Marston, recognised them as soon as he saw the photograph.
They were, from left, head girl Margaret Burrows, Pauline Jones, Janet Weston, Gwynneth Griffiths, Doreen Edwards, Jane Wing and Wendy Lawrence.
He remembers that the girl on the far right was called Helen, but cannot remember her surname.
The girls, aged 14 and 15, were pictured on the platform at Oxford station, waiting for an early morning train to London at the start of their journey.
They were accompanied by teacher Mrs I Fiss and seen off at the station by headmaster Mr DE Smith, who are both pictured in the centre of the group.
