THE sister of a 49-year-old woman missing from the Warneford Hospital in Headington fears she could have killed herself.
Sophie Coats believes her elder sister Emma, from Sutton Courtenay, who is suffering from depression, may have taken her own life after she said she felt her life had no purpose.
Ms Coats was last seen leaving the Oxford hospital at 10am on Wednesday last week and has not been seen since.
Her sister said: “She has had a severe mental breakdown so she’s on anti-depressant treatment. She was terrified about the future.
“She’s either hiding somewhere, because she doesn’t want to be in the Warneford, or she has tried to kill herself.
“When I saw her, she said she had no sense of purpose. When I asked her if she had a stronger desire to live, all she said was: ‘I’m physically stronger’.”
Ms Coats was admitted to the hospital in March suffering from depression.
She was discharged six weeks later, but tried to kill herself three days later by jumping out of a window, breaking her pelvis and hips.
Ms Coats is about 5ft 1in, with short grey hair and wears glasses.
Anyone with information about her should call police on 08458 505505.
