TWO 20-year-olds have been sentenced for their part in a gang attack in a Banbury park that left a man with axe wounds.
Martyn Brough, of Portway, Banbury, and Jamie McDowell, now of Thetford, Norfolk, had earlier admitted affray in relation to an incident in the town on May 19 last year.
Daniel McCarthy was left needing stitches after being hit on the arm with an axe, although the Crown Prosecution Service accepted neither Brough or McDowell, who were part of a larger group, were responsible for this.
Brough, who has 18 convictions for 35 offences, admitted having a poker with him but neither man used violence.
At Oxford Crown Court today both were given 12 months’ supervision orders.
