PATHOLOGISTS were last night set to carry out more tests to discover how a Benson pub landlord died.
The post mortem examination of Wayne Marshall, 42, proved inconclusive and there will now have to be further medical tests to see why he died, police said.
Mr Marshall collapsed following an argument on Sunday at about 10.50pm and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Last night, drinkers at the pub paid tribute to “a big man with a big heart”.
One friend said: “He was not here that long, but made an impression.
“He was a nice guy who really got to know people in the village since he moved here.
“He made an effort.
“Everyone is just in shock, really.”
Another regular added: “Benson is such a sleepy village. Nothing happens here.
“Wayne was a big man with a big heart.
“I remember New Year’s Eve at the pub when he dressed up as Fred Flintstone.
“I think everybody around here is really struggling to take in his death.”
Mr Marshall is believed to have been looking to leave the pub, with owners Greene King releasing an advert for new tenants on June 21.
His wife Pam runs a pub in Bristol.
A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and later bailed until July 17.
