WITNEY’s first dancing festival proved so popular organisers are hoping for a repeat performance.
As temperatures soared on Saturday, dozens of people – including Ducklington Morris and dad and daughter Ceroc duo Mel and Rhiannon Lewis showed off their prowess in different styles of dance for Dancin’ Witney.
It was organised by West Oxfordshire District Council and the West Oxfordshire Youth Dance Development Group to foster enthusiasm among young people for anything from traditional morris dancing to modern jive.
The event, held over six hours at Witney Methodist Church, attracted hundreds of people.
Other performers included Step 2 Academy of Dance, Ceroc Oxford, Jive+, The Jill Stew School of Dance, Your Dance 2 Carterton, Parasol Integrated Dance Group, Young Anjali and Viva Salsa.
There were also taster dance workshops ranging from opportunities to try out moves from contemporary and street dance, to jive and salsa.
